Amani--Peace

We've landed a(n) (unpaid) "side job"--viz. estate-sitting Amani ("peace" in Swahili) Vineyards.

[ The main house where we stay.]
This is a 32 hectare vineyard with 5 buildings (main house, 3 cottages, and a cellar/tasting room), 6 dogs, a four wheeler and a whole mess of keys and security bottons mumbo jumbo. Man is it amazingly beautiful and peaceful (at least, when the siren alarm isn't accidentally set and tripped). I've spotted a bunch of beautiful birds--I'm looking into how I can visually share my ornathological discoveries with you. We get to house/estate/dog sit for a month. We'll get to spend Christmas here. I'm only bummed we didn't know about this before and could have invited my (matthew) whole family down--they're all gonna be in Slovakia for Christmas.
Melinda read something this morning that about sums up our feelings for this sweet place. We feel that this is a gift to us; that God is "expressing his kindness to us..." (eph.2:7)

[ The afternoon view from the poolside.]

That place is beautiful. I am so glad that you get to enjoy it over the holidays. BTW: do you have any suggestions for baby girl names? You seem, like us, to really be into the meanings behind names. It's nice.
