SNAP for Abram

We just returned from Cape Agulhas (a-gull-us), the southern-most tip of this huge continent. Our American staff retreated there and we had a wonderful time bonding and growing as a team and primarily as friends. We are so blessed to serve with the folks that we do. We’ll attach a photo later this week. But I want to get to the heart of this post.

Please Stop Now And Pray for Abram Auchamp. Abram and Elsabe are our landlords. Abram has been a lecturer in the Stellenbosch School of Medicine for many years and Elsabe runs a Bed & Breakfast out of one wing of their home (we live in the other wing—the converted garage). As we pulled in on Friday from our retreat, Elsabe was on her way out to the hospital to visit Abram for the fourth time that day. She told us that early Friday morning she found Abram shaved and dressed sitting dazed and confused with his head in his hands on the edge of their bed. He cannot move his left arm or leg and he cannot speak. Obviously this is incredibly difficult—perhaps even made worse as he is a lecturer whose life has revolved nearly entirely around his speech. Elsabe has been very stoic and perhaps a little too “strong for Abram” these past few days. Please pray that God would heal Abram, that they would be comforted, that they would know Christ in this time, and that God would use us in any way to be His hands, His voice, and His comforting arms to the AuChamps during this time.
